PERSONA 3/4/5

TRAIT AU

CW: Self-Harm, Manipulated Self-Harm, Wild Animal Death, Teeth/Mouth Trauma, Accidental Cannibalism

AU where Persona users have animal features.

Traits, consisting of ears, tail, teeth, and wings, come in the night of an awakening, and is a general pain in the ass. Bloody, teeth rapidly falling out and coming back in just as fast, headaches, the whole misery. They also come with instincts, toned down and easily suppressable... except for Teddie (though how much of that was the Traits and how much of it was Just Teddie Literally Being A Bear is debatable). Most notably, if an animal is a carnivore, the Persona User craves raw meat.

They often hunt at night for wild animals since it's cheaper than constantly buying meat from Junes, and they can't risk getting caught shoplifting. Teddie gave tips on how to hunt, despite never needing or being capable to do so himself. Since he was out of the TV World before Naoto's awakening, he was able to go along with her and show a more in-depth tutorial on hunting.

Teddie does not start with the traits, despite the others thinking he would have. His traits came in the middle of the night and he was violently aggressive and out of control, due to the fact he's a Shadow with a fabricated body. The traits twisted Teddie up, turning him more animalistic and feral, with Teddie attempting to kill Yosuke. Yosuke let him out of the house in a panic but quickly goes to follow him, eventually being led to a home Teddie clearly broke into. Turns out, Teddie had killed and eaten Morooka, and Yosuke had to call Yu for help at 3 in the morning. Teddie is haunted by guilt over the event for pretty much the rest of the game, with it getting worse when Nanako gets kidnapped and he's later forced to recall that he's a Shadow. He never quite does get over it, choosing to instead repress and ignore it just like the fact he's a Shadow. However, post Persona 4, he starts becoming a lot more peppy about hunting, excited to go out a night, due to his friends not holding the Morooka or Shadow thing against him. Yosuke even blames himself as well, since he did let Teddie out the house to begin with. Teddie is oddly strictly a carnivore, despite being a bear, with Naoto theorizing that it's due to the Morooka incident.

Later on, not long before Naoto joins the party, Teddie looses control and claws up his throat out of guilt and hunger clouding his mind. His neck is bandaged up and it hurts to talk and eat (this does not stop him from doing both constantly), though people tend to not comment on it out of politeness, not realizing that his blood is blue. Teddie also still hoards "snacks," and as a result, his bearsuit leaks blood from the zipper and it smells bad. Yosuke keeps trying to hose him down.

Adachi cut off his features when he initially got them to not raise any suspicion, taking a short leave off work while he recovered, claiming he had gotten a bad head injury. During the confrontation, they’re brought back when he gets possessed. Adachi also manipulated Namatame into cutting off his features when he realized Namatame also had them, again, to make sure no one was able to glean any information from them.

Because Adachi’s aware Persona = Animal Features, he’s aware Yu and Friends are Persona Users, but he can’t really do anything about it since getting them put into a TV again would not work, and physically hurting them wouldn’t work out either because of Dojima. Since Adachi also needs to eat raw meat, he tends to never eat at work, which makes it come off like he's just not ever eating. He does still say he just mainly has instant ramen, but that's obviously a lie

FULL MOON TEDDIE AU

CW: Body/Facial Horror, Accidental Murder

Rather than Shadows becoming aggressive when the fog lifts, they become aggressive on a Full Moon. Due to Teddie being affected by this, he knows he’s a Shadow from the start, but still has his identity issues due to wanting to know how and why he was able to make himself so different from a typical Shadow, and later, why he was able to leave the TV when he doesn't have a Persona.

Teddie ends up killing anyone who comes into the TV World on a Full Moon after they’re trapped by their Shadow, as his want to remove anyone who is tossed in is twisted in his feral form, causing him to attack. He’s able to suppress the aggression though he has a harder and harder time doing so as the Full Moon approaches, causing him to be snappy and impatient with the group, and depending on how close it is to the deadline, he makes violent threats against them.

He refuses to let them enter at all on a Full Moon, whether it be during day or night, as he can’t suppress his violent urges, and is worried that he’d kill anyone who comes in.

Teddie decides to create a human body in order to blend in, and to try and leave the TV World behind, thinking it could potentially be a way to stop him from being affected by the Full Moon (he's capable of doing so because the rules regarding Shadows is a little different here, of course - Teddie being able to develop his human self is a extent of his already existent ability to make himself different from other Shadows. Him being able to leave the TV World after getting a human body is due to simply being so far from what a Shadow is that he isn't bound by their rules regarding leaving and entering the TV World).

Unfortunately, it failed, and he’s still affected. Luckily, he managed to leave Yosuke’s house before he was fully gone (Yosuke still took him in despite Teddie’s repeated attempts to stop him), though he ended up killing a security guard who caught him trespassing in Junes (as he was trying to go back to the TV World in order to prevent himself from attacking people).

He also killed Mayumi and Saki, and is very guilt ridden about it, but the others promise that they don’t hold it against him, and whoever threw them in the TV will be found and will answer for the crimes and using him as a tool for murder.

Rather than getting a Persona from defeating his Shadow, it fused with him, though it wasn’t apparent or noticeable until the first Full Moon after he created his human body, which he made prior to the deadline to rescue Rise. Here, his human body and bearsuit fused together, giving him a permanent mash-up of the two. Due to his bearsuit also being fused with his Shadow, his eyes are missing, and he has a big hole in his face, though he usually has the hole bandaged up.

His body is hollow, with a zipper on the neck, meaning his head is easily popped off without much issue. He’s also filled to the chest with a thick, black sludge, essentially the material Shadows are made out of. Despite being fused with his Shadow, it has no bearing (haha) on his ability to enter and exit the TV World.

Due to being fused with his Shadow instead of gaining a Persona from him, Teddie gains his Shadow’s moveset, capable of doing things like Nihil Hand. This also causes him to have spirals of Nihilism, but he tends to keep himself alone until it passes.

It doesn't take long for him to fall into belief that he is truly irredeemable.

BEAR TRIPLETS AU

CW: Ursine Is Still Very Nihilistic And Cub Is At Large Risk Of Actually Killing Someone

Very silly AU where instead of Shadow Teddie being accepted and turned into Teddie’s Persona, she just. doesn’t do that. General Teddie gets added to the shenanigans a few months later.

So what happens here is that the party defeats Shadow Teddie, but Teddie doesn’t accept her, so for whatever reason, she can just become her own person (not as much as Teddie, though) and leave the TV World. Also, despite them both lacking Personas & being Shadows, they can still go into Inaba. This also applies to General Teddie later on. A note, Ursine is mainly fem presenting and defaults to She/Her pronouns, Cub doesn’t care what pronouns you use for it.

Not long after arriving in Inaba, Shadow Teddie decides that she doesn’t like being called that, and so the name “Ursine” is suggested, which she accepts. She’s also only a little bit taller than Teddie now, and smog pours out her bearsuit when it’s open. There’s also something in there alongside her human body, but no one really wants to risk finding out what it is, exactly. The eyes on Ursine’s bearsuit are usually mascot-like, but she can make them look like how they originally did, similar to a win animation from Arena. Ursine’s clothing preference is baggy & concealing.

Both Ursine and Cub look and feel like a corpse (Cub less so but it’s still notable), and Ursine is very much still nihilistic, usually towards Teddie (she’s also like this to Cub but significantly less so because Cub does not care at all about her insults and comments) but is a ass to everyone. One time she told Nanako she was gonna die one day and got lectured by Teddie. She didn’t regret it but it did lead to her being incredibly insensitive about Nanako’s death due to not understanding why it was so upsetting she died (it was gonna happen sooner or later, wasn’t it?) and Teddie yelling that he hates Ursine in a heat of the moment thing (not that Ursine really cared).

Ursine has a neutral opinion on everyone, but people tend to have less than great opinions on her. She can also access her Berserk Form, but only if she’s incredibly angry, and then she just starts fucking destroying everything. Ursine sounds like an emotionally dead version of Teddie (slightly different in each form), and her Berserk Form sounds like canon.

Teddie and Ursine team up in dungeons (neither one have Personas but there sure are Two Of Them), but Ursine clearly does Not want to be here. She and Cub also live with Yosuke like Teddie does, though they have no bed because they don’t need to sleep… or eat, or drink. Basically, they’re pretty inhuman compared to Teddie - both have no innards, can’t bleed, and are filled with the sludge Shadows are made of. Cub and Ursine also can’t feel the cold, leading to Cub looking like those teenagers who wear shorts in winter. Ursine and Cub are supposed to work at Junes as Mascots alongside Teddie, but they are somehow even worse at their jobs than Teddie is since they don’t really need money. Yosuke’s parents find it odd they’ve never seen Ursine and Cub eat when Teddie always is (as well as being confused on where Cub came from - if he’s Teddie and Ursine’s youngest triplet brother, why did he show up several months later?)

With General Teddie, the story of Arena is wildly different. Labrys as well as all of the Persona 3 characters aren’t there, and the villain is some guy I guess trying to fuse the TV World with Inaba (listen the backstory isn’t that important). They recreated everyone’s Shadows in an outsider's perspective, leading to things like Yu receiving a Shadow despite never having one and Shadow/General Teddie having a human body. The Shadows are their own critters (I guess the relationship here is Father and the Homunculi lmao) with the villain possessing different Shadows in order to do things or talk/mock/berate the IT. The Shadow is usually, near constantly, Shadow Teddie, leading to her wearing the General’s Ensemble and going by General Teddie to establish her being the leader (likely another result of the villain knowing little about the IT, Yu is the leader, Teddie’s the mascot! Maybe he just wanted to stand out?). General Teddie gets tired of near constant possession quite fast, so its genuinely excited for the Grand Prix - the idea of people fighting their friends causes suffering, and the Shadows love suffering! It also distracts it from how little he gets to be himself (which being a doppelganger of someone isn’t really himself to begin with)

Teddie and Ursine (mainly Teddie) confront General Teddie, they (pretty easily) convince her to break free of the villain's control, and she starts showing up around Inaba the next day (they didn’t have their bearsuit on when initially talking to Yosuke, but Yosuke found the real Teddie and things got sorted out rather quick) after the villain is defeated and the other Shadows are dissipated/destroyed.

Like Ursine, General Teddie doesn't want to be called that anymore, and so is called Cub now (he’s the baby, after all!). Pretty funny name, since Cub is very much still bloodthirsty.

They’re not nihilistic or cheerful and bouncy anymore (though attempted to continue copying Teddie and Ursine for about a month before Teddie had a talk with him, leading to his real personality & an appearance change coming out), acting in its own way reminiscent of how General Teddie acted. Its voice is similar to what General Teddie sounds like when his eyes go yellow (it also is form dependent), and her eyes still do the thing where they’re usually black but turn yellow if pissed or annoyed. He also dislikes not wearing the Junes hat and scarf he wears as a replacement for his hat + cape from before (wearing them in both forms), and is always chewing on something. Whether or not he should be chewing on a particular item is debatable. They know a bit too much about people and is very violent, repeatedly having been caught trying to initiate fistfights with random people. Cub does learn that doing this is frowned upon, and Yosuke introduces them to those fake fighting shows to focus his attention on, as well as notebooks filled with violent art that Yosuke is probably going to have to hide from his parents.

Ursine only really cares about Teddie & Cub, not that she would ever want to admit that, but Cub does care about the IT and his violent threats are toned down around them. He hasn’t interacted with Nanako much but I don’t see why he would have any reason to dislike her.

The IT are a little worried that Cub’s going to kill someone because of his lack of human knowledge - he might beat someone to death and not realize or understand it. Cub loves violence and initiating fights but everybody's like please don't do that you're durable as fuck they are not you are going to kill someone where are the knives where are they. She thinks it's funny when people slip or fall and both her & Ursine have very low empathy (Ursine doesn't laugh if she sees someone walk into a wall though she just doesn't care. If someone falls near her she will walk away. Cub will too she’ll just laugh first) Cub still tries to fight people but it becomes a less common occurrence.

Cub’s love of people fighting/suffering and violence definitely stems from when he was General Teddie, and he is very much aware of that. Neither one enjoys remembering their previous identities, some of it stemming from not wanting to think of when they weren’t themselves, but it also goes a bit deeper than that. Ursine doesn’t like thinking about how she was really close to killing a group of people she’s now super close to (not counting the then not-present Naoto, and she would rather die than admit this /hj). Cub was being controlled by someone else while conscious for most of the time she was General Teddie, so she really does not like thinking about that. He obviously does not mind the forced fighting, he himself keeps trying to fight everyone.

PSYCHIC AU

CW: None

Somewhat inspired by Psychonauts, in the sense that the IT + Adachi are psychic with the powers you learn in PN and it takes place at a summer camp (not a psychic summer camp. just a summer camp).

The IT all attend a summer camp that’s being hosted by the school. Morooka is a counselor as is Adachi. Mayumi died prior to this camp starting and that’s why Adachi is there (instead of the camp just being canceled). Several Social Links are here too since it's for all three years, so Naoki, Kou, Daisuke, and Ai are all wandering about the woods. Saki is there too but she ends up dying not long into the camp. Adachi manages to somehow convince Morooka to not cancel the camp (they end up burying Saki somewhere in the woods), and Morooka probably doesn’t die since Mitsuo isn’t here at the camp. I can't tell if that's worse or better than him dying.

The IT are psychic, the camp itself isn't, the IT are just all conveniently psychic. Some of them knew from a young age and hid it, others found out not long before camp started. Adachi is also psychic, he most likely used telekinesis or something to murder Mayumi and Saki so there’d be no trace of him killing them (he didn’t use his confusion power because he wasn't aware of it until after Saki’s death). Yu has a PSI-Door (don’t know who he stole that off of, maybe Adachi dropped it and Yu didn’t know it was his so kept it?) and uses it to reverse Adachi’s confusion bombs on the campers.

The Mental Worlds = The TV Dungeons, the hub world/general TV World is the Collective Unconscious, but it looks a bit different than it does in game (it's not like a brain and a bunch of doors its like a platform with a bunch of different pathways leading from it). Yu and Yosuke encounter the CU during a strange dream/accidental projecting into it and meet Teddie. Teddie just kind of “guards” the CU, looking pretty much like he does in canon (side note, everyone looks like they do in canon, just instead of wearing Yasogami uniforms they wear camp shirts and shorts. When Teddie comes to the real world they steal spare clothes for him). Teddie doesn’t need a PSI-Portal to enter people's minds, he can just Do That, and it kind of scares the others. I don’t know what all he can do besides that and a few other things, but I think it would be funny if he was just “new power as the plot demands” because he got laser-beamed in the head with psitanium/silly (as well as being an actual resident of the mind).

Not long after meeting Teddie, Saki is suddenly killed, and after a small funeral service, the camp goes on. Rather than the IT being kidnapped and thrown into a TV, they are put into a state that nears unconsciousness (though they're still there enough to give consent to mind-entering), and can only be snapped out of this by a person entering their mind and resolving the conflict or whatever. It's something Adachi can do (it’s some sort of PSI-Power he has, perhaps a personally altered dangerous version of the confusion power?), and if they're not snapped out of it before a certain point, they just fall completely unconscious and can’t be woken up.

Chie initially stays by Yukiko's side when it occurs to her, but she overhears Yosuke and Yu talk about the PSI Portal and asks to come with them once they get Yukiko's permission. This is when Chie meets Teddie. After Yukiko it’s Kanji, then Rise, Teddie somehow comes to the real world, then Naoto. Since Teddie has the ability to enter minds without the need of a PSI Portal, he just realizes it works both ways and uses it to dip out of the UC. He’s also gained a human body, as well as clothes. He doesn’t initially have access to many PSI Powers until he wanders off day one of being in the human world and encounters a Bit Too Much Psitanium. Whoops!

There are a few things Teddie’s capable of doing prior to this incident – such as teleportation, telepathy, telekinesis, and mind reading. The rest of the powers are unlocked by the psitanium. Despite Junes not being a Thing here (I mean within the plot, it obviously still exists) Yosuke still basically takes Teddie in, letting him stay in the empty bunk above his own in his cabin and being the one who supervises him the most. Naoto is still suspicious of them, since everyone who was snapped out of their confusion induced state becomes a part of Yu’s friend group, but quickly figures its not them because it doesn’t makes sense (though she’s still quite confused on where the hell Teddie came from)

Teddie is a censor that became his own person and managed to leave the original mind he came from, and started hanging around the CU (especially since becoming his own person meant the censors from said mind kicked him out). He has his identity crises, but figures out who and what he is over the course of the game.

Dojima comes to visit around the end of the camp (he is not aware of what's happening because of Adachi intentionally making it so), where he and Nanako come to do some camp activities with Yu and his friends. Adachi uh. well. Because Nanako is so young, Yu and Teddie cannot enter her mind and therefore reverse the confusion effect that Adachi put on her, and so she falls into a coma-state. Camp is going great [thumbs up emoji] one teenager died and we all witnessed a six year old go into a coma.

When the IT finds out it was Adachi who kept confusion bombing people (because he was bored with the camp), they nearly kill him. They all nearly just use their PSI Powers on him and are only stopped because they can't risk getting in trouble for killing him. Besides, he needs to be alive so he can pay for what he did to Nanako. Teddie has his breakdown alone with Nanako, which manages to remove the confusion effect on her (censors the damn confusion bomb like fuck you/silly).

Since he was originally a censor and is now no longer welcomed in his original mind (he doesn’t even remember who that was), Teddie isn't welcome in any mind. No matter where he goes, unless it's the real world or the UC, the censors will attempt to kick him out.

Yu most likely used his PSI to pass the time when his parents were out late, Yosuke tends to use telekinesis for work. Chie doesn’t really use hers much as she’s more focused on physical stuff. Yukiko once used pyrokinesis for cooking and nearly caught the kitchen on fire. Kanji raises plants as well as his sewing and drawing habits because of his herbaphony allowing him to connect to them on a deeper level than most people. Rise’s powers aren't really useful in the idol business but it's great to keep in touch with the others. Teddie can use his to communicate with the IT before he leaves the CU, which was... a jumpscare the first time he did it. Naoto’s marksmanship = firearm, she tries to not rely too heavily on her PSI during investigations, but it does help out

CHIMERA KEN AU

CW: Child/Animal Harm, the Chimera appearance in question is similar to Tucker’s Chimera from FMA

On October 4, Ken brings Shinjiro alone to confront him, and everything goes the same as canon up until Shinjiro shields Ken from getting shot. Rather than dying after S.E.E.S. arrives, they take longer to get there, and so Shinjiro is dead by the time they do. Anyway, Shinjiro dies atop Ken as his blood smears onto the kid’s hands. Takaya then kicks Shinjiro’s corpse off Ken and shoots him, in a spot that wouldn’t be instantly fatal but still pretty bad. Then S.E.E.S. shows up, so Takaya leaves. They realize Shinjiro’s dead, Ken’s been shot and is bleeding out, and that if they don’t do something now he will also die.

Maybe fucked up Dark Hour abilities, maybe it’s something Aigis can do for whatever reason, (likely going to a result of the chairman if I can think of a good reason why he'd cause this) but Ken and Koromaru end up fused together into a human/dog chimera. Since they’re both about the same size (especially in Reload), they end up a 50/50 of each other.

It’s mainly Ken, he can speak (with a somewhat distorted voice) and walk around on two legs, but he has balance issues and therefore prefers walking on all fours. They also have hands and can still grab things, and bark at squirrels and when annoyed. It appears that they lack a evoker collar, but it wasn't removed prior to fusion, and such, it's internally fused to them and it's so uncomfortable. They also have a bullet wound on their left shoulder area.

REAL WORLD ABILITIES AU

A revamped version of an old Mother AU I don’t draw anymore. Persona users have one ability each, usually the element their Persona is resistant/strong/initial/whatever. Teddie is a outlier and should not have been counted /silly

YU NARUKAMI

Electricity, static shock is worse with him and he tends to both attract lightning during storms and also become stronger for the length of that storm.

YOSUKE HANAMURA

Wind, able to move large items with ease using it.

CHIE SATONAKA

Ice, immune to the negative effects of cold though she can feel it, she’s just frosty all the time but it isn’t lethal or bothersome. Also doesn’t really feel warmth she’s too cold for that (Yukiko may be the only thing hot enough for her to feel warm aside from literal lava).

YUKIKO AMAGI

Fire, pretty much the opposite of Chie, she’s too hot to feel the negative effects of it but it’s not dangerous or a chore. Chie is the only cold thing she can feel and she just immediately melts any snow she stands in

KANJI TATSUMI

Ground, can create things out of rock and dirt and make it stay together, though he sticks to creating with thread and needle. He does create weapons out of his dirt, though

RISE KUJIKAWA

Stars, can make small constellations and can make a very cool version of those star stickers kids had on their ceiling (i miss mine :( edit: I GOT NEW ONES!!!!!). These definitely showed up in her stage shows

TEDDIE HANAMURA

Life/Death (I told you he was an outlier). He can absorb the life essence of others and transfer to something that’s dead, killing the initial creature but reviving the second one in the process. He can also just hold on to the essence for later but it causes him to have too much energy and he gets light headed easily from it. He’s not… fond of this ability nor does he know why he even has it. Kamui Miracle gone beary wrong /silly

FNAF CROSSOVER AU

CW: None

Teddie is a young kid who takes the role of The Puppet but isn't actually dead (he likely uses a Puppet costume to scare off intruders, but he's otherwise fine), instead acting as a guardian to the spirits trapped in the animatronics despite finding them years later. He helps them kill and hide the bodies. The spirits don't hurt him in exchange for this protection, as well as knowing that he didn't have anything to do with their murders. Adachi takes Afton's role, killing most of the Investigation Team and stuffing them into the suits, later being cornered by their spirits into the Spring Bonnie suit, which kills him, causing him to inhabit it for the next 30 years.

Yu was stuffed into Freddy, Yosuke is Bonnie, Chie is Chica, Yukiko is Foxy, and Kanji is Golden Freddy, a Fredbear costume that was stored in the back. Naoto is the bite victim who ends up also possessing Golden Freddy, and Rise is Baby (animatronic brought to this location after her original one was closed down).

Despite obviously never meeting Yu, a older Nanako finds the building and especially Freddy animatronic to be comforting, and despite Teddie's efforts to keep her out, she keeps coming back.

Adachi didn't destroy the animatronics, however he is loose in Inaba. Which is a whole other problem.

REAPER TEDDIE AU

CW: None

Rather than being a Resident Of The TV World, Teddie is one of the many Grim Reapers spread around the world. Specifically, he's a five year old Reaper employeed to Inaba. Initally only being referred to as "Reaper," Yosuke quickly names him Teddie when the two get into a conversation with Nanako. Liking the name, Teddie starts going by it in general, and stops wearing his red cloak all the time, instead wearing overalls. He dons the name Reaper and the cloak again when reaping.

Teddie is usually invisible to everyone, but Persona users can bypass this, as discovered when Yosuke started talking to him when they were on their way to rescue Yukiko. After Teddie confronted him, he began living at the house, later making himself visible to everyone when Yosuke tells his parents about Teddie, despite the fact that Reapers aren't supposed to do that... or bond with humans.

Teddie can sense when someone is going to be reaped soon, even if it's via the TV World (this makes him feel more ill than a regular reap), but of course can't do anything about it but reap the person when their time comes. The only reason he could tell the others about future TV World victims is because that is another world - Reaper laws don't really apply there. He could sense Nanako's future fate, but kept ignoring it because she's so young - surely he has to be sensing it wrong.

Of course, he wasn't, and has to reap Nanako while she's in the hospital, informing Dojima about it and the fact he's a Reaper before doing so. Afterwards, he decides to try something that is not allowed for Reapers - reviving a person. Nanako's back, but she's less peppy and cheery, she knows she died (due to her young age she doesn't quite realize what happened though), and she can see Teddie whether or not he wants her too. Dojima also recalls that he saw Teddie the night his wife died.

Teddie was also affected by Nanako's revival - namely, he's missing his eyes. He can still see, yes, but people don't want to look him in the face anymore, so he is paying his price. The Investigation Team and Nanako don't seem to mind much, though he'll likely have to tell his parents the truth because there's really no other way to give a explaination for what happened.

The others do not know they are being haunted or that Naoto was never reaped.

The longer Naoto goes without being reaped, the more fucked up her ghost becomes, becoming foggy, loosing her legs, etc. The worst of it so far is her eyes vanishing and constantly pouring pitch black sludge, which can make contact with Teddie, but nothing else.
