For the refs, technically speaking, these are less AU refs and more of general “how I draw them,” but some characters do have traits in these refs that would apply only to the AU

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S 4:

  • First game chronologically
  • Crying Child’s name is Oliver Afton
  • Takes place in 1983
  • After night minigames are a mini prequel to the actual gameplay, where Oliver and his Fredbear plush count down the days to his birthday party, all the while his older brother Micheal torments him with a Foxy mask, or otherwise with the animatronics in general, while his sister Elizabeth is always in her room, aside from the actual birthday.
  • Oliver's birthday party comes to a sudden close when Micheal and his friends hold him up to Fredbear, shoving the boy into the bear’s mouth, and crushing his head as a result.
  • Instead of the actual gameplay looking like a bedroom with a really weird layout, it’s a bedroom mashed together with a hospital room, as Oliver is dying from his injuries.
  • Nights 1-4 is plagued by Nightmare Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. Night 5 4AM onwards is home to only Nightmare Fredbear, and Night 6 has Nightmare only all night. Nightmare resembles a shadowy combination of the four main animatronics.
  • The animatronics function similarly to the canon game.
  • Post game cutscene is the same, and the death screen is the same
  • Fredbear’s Family Diner consisted of Fredbear and SpringBonnie, and a show airing around the time included Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy. Animatronics of these characters didn’t exist until right before the Bite, and never got to be used after Fredbear’s was quickly shut down. They were always stored in the backrooms, though, and Afton had access to them, being the co-owner and whatnot. These unused animatronics are where Afton hid his victims bodies
  • Charlie was killed (in the same way shown in canon) and started possessing the Puppet after the Missing Kids Incident, and The Puppet was created to protect her following said incident. It never actually appeared in the show since it wasn’t meant to ever be a stage character.
  • After Charlie found herself able to possess and control the animatronic that once protected her, she gave this “gift” to the kids stuffed within the unused Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy animatronics.
  • Within the show, Fredbear is Freddy’s father, and SpringBonnie was Bonnie’s parent.
  • Oliver loved the Fredbear and Friends show, owning merchandise in the form of his plushies, even carrying around Fredbear constantly. Despite Micheal tormenting him with the Foxy mask, he still liked the show
  • Oliver’s Foxy plush isn’t headless, but he still considers the toys his friends, even though he grew scared of the animatronic versions of Fredbear and SpringBonnie, and soon the restaurant itself
  • Oliver was not the only one who had nightmares about the characters in Fredbear and Friends, which is how the Nightmares end up in Help Wanted. Despite the nightmares, the plushies were very important to him
  • Nightmare Foxy’s face resembles a mask
  • The Freddles come from Freddy’s Annoying Younger Sibling characters in the Fredbear and Friends show. Chica being partially blind is also because of the show, with a PSA Fazbear Entertainment made involving her and safety. It was one of those more traumatizing PSAs, and the eye injury Chica had in it scared Oliver and forever associated the two together, hence Nightmare Chica’s broken eye. Oliver’s Chica plushie’s eye was also missing, due to Micheal ripping it off to bully him due to his fear of the PSA.

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S SISTER LOCATION:

  • Second game chronologically
  • Baby & Ballora are animals (Baby is a raccoon, Ballora is a hamster)
  • Playing as Micheal Afton (came back to try to find his dead sister, who was still killed by Baby)
  • After night minigames features Micheal watching different horror movie parodies and eating popcorn
  • The animatronics never scoop themselves or create Ennard, they simply remain trapped in the rental shop. Baby and Funtime Foxy do get out later on, though
  • Micheal then decides not to worry about that and instead goes to try to find his father because he needs to be dealt with
  • Funtime Foxy uses He/It pronouns

    FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S 2:

  • Third game chronologically
  • Jeremy works nights 1-6, goes to dayshift, gets bit by Mangle, Fritz replaces him, instantly gets fired after one shift
  • Toys are not possessed, just hacked
  • Withered animatronics are possessed and from the old Fredbear location, Golden Freddy (called Withered Fredbear in this au) more of a spirit than an actual old suit. The Puppet is also brought in and put into the Prize Counter
  • SpringBonnie and Fredbear suits are stored away
  • Toys are scrapped, withered animatronics are patched up. The Puppet escaped scraping, however
  • Mangle and its variants use He/It pronouns

    FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S 1:

  • Fourth game chronologically
  • Foxy was never finished in repairs because the company ran out of resources and never bothered getting more
  • Golden Freddy still more of a spirit and still called Fredbear in the au
  • Playing as Micheal Afton under fake alias, looking for clues on his father
  • Puppet, Fredbear suit, and SpringBonnie suit stored in safe room
  • Cupcake is possessed by Susie's dog

    FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S 3:

  • Fifth game chronologically
  • 30 years post FNAF 1, in between then and now, William destroyed the haunted animatronics, but the spirits possessing them chased him into the SpringBonnie suit, which activated and killed him. Way before his death, he created the Mimic, imprinting his murderous tendencies on them should anything ever happen to him. The Mimic is moved from place to place over the years, was stored in the Safe Room, deactivated, but was reactivated & escaped when the Safe Room was opened up
  • After Afton died, the spirits moved on
  • Springtrap was then found and brought to Fazbear’s Fright for Michael Afton to deal with
  • Once Micheal realizes Springtrap is his father, he burns Fazbear’s Fright to the ground in an attempt to kill him. It failed

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S PIZZERIA SIMULATOR:

  • Henry opens up fake pizzeria to lure in the haunted animatronics in order to put them to rest (or send them to hell)
  • Lefty was created to capture the Puppet, it worked
  • Baby and Funtime Foxy are also lured into the fake pizzeria, looking worse for well but not nearly like they do in canon
  • Afton was also found in the alleyway.
  • Micheal Afton got the job to help out Henry, but the job wasn’t meant for him
  • After the haunted animatronics are gathered, Henry burns the pizzeria to the ground. Micheal stays inside of it and is killed. The spirits are freed, and Afton is sent to hell
  • Some of The Mimic’s code was transported into an Arcade Machine, which was put into storage alongside The Mimic itself as they were both perceived as dangerous.

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S ULTIMATE CUSTOM NIGHT:

  • It’s Afton’s hell, not really much to say here! rip him, i guess (not really)
  • FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S HELP WANTED:

  • Game made to make fun of "rumors" from throughout the years, currently in beta testing
  • For about half a year, Gregory (Dr. Rabbit) had been possessed by Glitchtrap following his breaking and entering for funsies into a Fazbear location and playing the corrupted arcade machine. More information on this in the next tab but Gregory is freed around the time this game starts production
  • Vanessa is the beta tester and is infected by Glitchtrap, which was put into the game by Dr. Rabbit as the possession was wavering (breaking and entering AGAIN to do this; he moved The Mimic’s code from the Arcade Machine to the VR Game. Glitchtrap is The Mimic’s code mimicking Afton, it having the ability to possess those who achieve certain things within infected hardware)
  • Vanessa's possessed side is Vanny, but is suppressed half the time unlike Gregory and Dr. Rabbit, where Dr. Rabbit was always in control and suppressing Gregory. This is due to Vanessa being older with a stronger will-power, but Vanessa is completely unaware that Vanny even exists
  • With Glitchtrap gone from the game (as it transferred to Vanessa) it most likely is produced as normal, without anyone else getting infected

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S SECURITY BREACH:

  • Dr. Rabbit hacked the animatronics and S.T.A.F.F. Bots to turn them hostile to anyone who might get close to finding the Pizzeria Simulator hideout, as The Mimic was trying to rebuild their creator, and as they learned from Afton on how to kill, and so in turn Dr. Rabbit became very aggressive and violent.
  • Dr. Rabbit would additionally kill these people himself, including therapists his parents hired to try to help his increasingly violent behavior, kids who kept pestering him about his after-school activities, and eventually his parents themselves in order to try to get them to knock off the therapy. Unfortunately, the school “took pity” on him, so more therapists were killed.
  • Gregory did not have good hacking skills, but they improved greatly throughout his possession, and he was also able to keep these skills after he was freed. He also kept the incredibly violent tendencies that ramped up as well, which very much does scare him at times because he usually did not immediately think murder should be the solution to his problems
  • When Gregory was freed, he had zero memories of the past half of a year, as if he had been in a coma, and he had no clue where his parents went, why his house looked abandoned, why he had so many violent thoughts, and why he was so good with electronics. He also knows way, WAY too much about all of Afton’s murders. Occasionally having nightmares from Afton’s POV about them - he doesn’t recall names/appearances and whatnot, just that kids were killed in different pizzerias and other Freddy’s locations. This is due to Afton’s influence on The Mimic - Afton was somehow able to transfer a lot of his memories and habits, so that if he died, The Mimic would be able to carry on just as well
  • Gregory lived on the streets for about a week, and was found by Cassie + adopted by her dad (who he nearly killed as Rab, but neither one is aware). He lived with them for a few weeks prior to sneaking into the Pizzaplex, kickstarting the game’s events. Cassie had been his friend (er, Dr. Rabbit’s) for a few months by this time, but she wasn’t aware he was homeless - Rab didn’t really go around telling people, so she, alongside Tony and Boots, thought his parents were still alive until he was freed from Afton.
  • Gregory cannot stand being around Vanny, even if he should be in a recharge station/Freddy, and is overwhelmed by nausea as long as she remains around him. This happens as he can sense Afton/Mimic’s influence (weird child senses?), though he isn’t aware of it. Vanny (and Vanessa) cannot sense Afton’s past presence within Gregory, however. Gregory does not feel sick around Vanessa, just Vanny, though he does get a really bad headache and will pass out if in her presence for too long.
  • Vanny is more playful than Dr. Rabbit (who was kind of an ass, tbh), skipping around and acting like the chase is a game. However, if angered, she will hunt her victim down and murder them. Dr. Rabbit also liked to toy with his victims before killing them, but in more of a “annoyingly cryptic” way.
  • Gregory does not like bright lights. RIP to him anytime he’s jumpscared by Vanessa or a S.T.A.F.F Bot
  • Gregory is smaller and “weaker” looking than most of his classmates, and Dr. Rabbit would sometimes take advantage of that in order to appear like he wasn’t doing anything malicious
  • Gregory also cuts his hair himself, even prior to getting possessed. Dr. Rabbit would continue this trend just because he didn’t care for hair in his eyes (plus keeping up Gregory’s appearance would lower suspicion, Afton didn’t really Care about looks at this point)
  • Trans Gregory :) He is also Patient 46
  • Gregory also gets incredibly injured throughout his stay at the Pizzaplex, from cutting his arm in the vents, to badly injuring his ribs in Monty Golf, he is gonna be a walking splatter of blood by the time 6AM finally arrives
  • The ending of this au is a variant of the VIP ending. Freddy catches the place on fire, but he manages to get separated from Gregory, who ends up trapped in the sinkhole with Vanny. The animatronics are all shattered and Freddy is fully upgraded
  • The animatronics are high tech A.I., having unique personalities but also have human-like flaws. All of them are hostile towards Gregory due to Dr. Rabbit’s reprogramming, though Freddy’s reboot at the beginning of the game restored his original programming, and so acts friendly towards Gregory, like he’s supposed to. However, Freddy has no clue why his friends are so hostile. Probably a good thing
  • Monty is responsible for decommissioning Bonnie
  • Gregory was new to his school, though unfortunately did not get to become very used to it before Afton chose him for murder shenanigans
  • While possessed, Gregory meets Ellis and Tony. The two act similar to how they do in the GGY story, but there isn’t an assignment that kicks off the plot, Tony kinda takes note of GGY on his own and ends up in the rabbit hole.
  • Ellis thought Dr. Rabbit’s nickname “Rab” was cool (Afton possessed Gregory calls himself Dr. Rabbit though barely ever introduces himself as anything other than Rab, and NEVER Gregory’s actual name), and so started going by Boots.
  • Tony relays what he found out about GGY to Rab and Boots, and while Boots calls him a dork (while also genuinely asking to stop looking into GGY because it sounds VERY dangerous, and they’ve known each other practically their entire lives), Rab just kinda goes distant and doesn’t comment on it.
  • Tony continues to investigate, breaks into the school, avoids camera, researches the missing counselors, and the next day, is put in detention because, unknown to him, Rab tattled on him (as Rab had been following him).
  • Rab comes over to the library and suggests they go to the Pizzaplex. Tony, knowing about GGY’s interventions, denies the offer, but Rab is scarily insistent, and Tony reluctantly agrees, realizing too late that GGY has been Rab the whole time, and he’s murdered in the Pizzaplex later that night. Boots questions Rab if he knows where Tony went, and Rab acts like he doesn’t. Rab also “deals” with Tony’s mom so she doesn’t ask questions
  • Gregory is VERY confused on who Tony, Boots, and Cassie are when he gets back to school, and it’s just one more thing to add to his neverending confusion post possession.
  • Boots kinda goes along with things while hiding his feelings (Tony, who he has known since he was four, going missing devastates him but you can’t tell he's upset by looking at him) so while Gregory is acting differently, he just goes with it. Cassie finds it very odd, but figures it to just be a case of personality change when someone feels more comfortable with their friends. Rab was calm and sometimes deep, liking to slack off instead of work. Gregory speaks out when he's annoyed and complains often, but he is very protective of his friends, and should he ever remember he's the cause of Tony’s disappearance, I think it would destroy him, despite Gregory technically never meeting Tony. Cassie and Boots talk about him enough that Gregory does feel like he did actually know him.
  • After Gregory was freed from possession, he has become way WAY more violent, so his friends sometimes worry hes going to murder someone if they get teased
  • The first time Cassie and Boots met Gregory he nearly attacked them with a knife before Boots was able to grab him and Cassie calmed him down. Gregory reacted in confusion on who they were, since he never met them, and although hurt, they did try to help him out. Gregory had a knife as he woke up with it, and was on high alert due to both it and waking up with half a year of recent memory gone. Due to this, Cassie’s father signed Gregory up for therapy following his adoption to try to help recover his memory, and he goes twice a week, but is so far unsuccessful.
  • Afton/Mimic had an easier time than expected acting as Gregory - he was that kid who was new to the school and kept to himself so it's not like people would really pick up on a different personality. Hell, even his parents failed to notice anything outside of his increasing violent tendencies. Cassie, Boots, and Tony didn't meet Gregory until after Afton started possessing him, so they didn't notice anything either
  • Vanny & Rab are so different due to Glitchtrap having different levels of control over them. He had full control over Vanessa, not so much over Gregory. This also means that a lot of the possession leftovers Gregory gained won't happen for Vanessa, such as sensing Afton/Afton imprinted beings (Vanessa can sense him it's just a lot weaker than Gregory's. Mainly, it doesn't overwhelm her or make her feel ill). Vanessa also does not gain the same bloodlust that Gregory has, which ends up making him think there's something seriously wrong with him once he finds out it was a result of Afton & that they were both possessed by him. This is likely due to Gregory being the first one possessed by Glitchtrap, and with full control, so more stuff was put into him permanently, and not much was really left over when it came to the partially possessed Vanessa snrk

FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S: HELP WANTED 2:

  • Glitchtrap’s influence over Vanny begins to waver, though it’s in a very early stage. All she knows is that she is beginning to like the idea of him not always telling her what to do.
  • The player character is likely Cassie's dad, though the ending with the mask isn't here since the AR World doesn't exist in this AU. He simply witnesses these things with zero context, and is still alive (for now, anyway. Who knows what the future holds?)
  • FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S RUIN:

  • Cassie and Boots go in the burnt up Pizzaplex to find Gregory after he had gone missing and didn't come home
  • Initially, Cassie thought he was at therapy, but it wasn't a day he was scheduled for. Then she thought he was at Boots' place, but
  • he isn't
  • The two know he would often sneak into the Pizzaplex (despite both Cassie and Boots saying he didn't need to) so they break in
  • The AR world/nodes/whatever don't exist here, the villain is Vanny (who for now, has completely taken over Vanessa), teamed up with the reactivated Mimic (The Mimic wasn’t completely transferred to that Arcade Machine), who is hunting down Gregory. Gregory's Fazwatch was luckily paired up with the Roxy Talkie Cassie and Boots had
  • They team up with Roxy after she recognizes Cassie and is like a protector that won't hesitate to attack those who try to harm Cassie - including Monty and Chica
  • Cassie has Roxy promise to protect her brother once they find him, knowing that their relationship is extremely rocky. Roxy reluctantly agrees, which would surprise Gregory if he wasn't about to pass out from sugar crash and exhaustion.
  • Vanny teamed up with the Mimic that was trapped below the Pizzaplex, and Gregory remembers it through his shared memories from Afton/The Mimic itself
  • Gregroy, Boots, and Roxy get out, but Vanny catches Cassie at the last second and sends The Mimic out to grab the others. Gregory panics and starts the elevator, cutting the cord once they get out, realizing that by the time he does so, Cassie had gotten away from Vanny and began going up the elevator. He gives a quick apology but cuts it anyway. Gregory’s elevator cord-cut drops Cassie back to Vanny and The Mimic
  • Gregory never quite put Vanny’s situation together, he just views her and The Mimic as danger and took a risk to prevent them from getting out (as Vanny tried to murder him several times and he has memories of the Mimic murdering people - he is mostly unaware that he himself has killed more than a few people at this point, the memory is still fuzzy)
  • Gregory has no clue what Vanny plans to do with Cassie, though believes she is 100% dead and that it is his fault because he was the reason why she came to the Pizzaplex to begin with + he cut the only way out
  • Vanny has no plans for Cassie outside of using her as bait for Gregory, due to needing him specifically after realizing during previous encounters that he had previously been possessed by Glitchtrap, and believes that he could be helpful to her. No longer caring about Glitchtrap, she simply wishes to get completely rid of Glitchtrap’s influence over her and The Mimic (they bonded), not realizing what that could possibly mean for her existence. She knows that Gregory got out of it, and isn’t above threatening or harming those Gregory cares about to get it out of him. She doesn’t know what she’ll do after Glitchtrap is gone. She wants more freedom with her actions, not having someone telling her what to do all the time.

    OTHER FNAF MEDIA:

  • Special Delivery & FNAF World are in-universe games Fazbear Entertainment released. SD was an attempt to profit on people finding the business/animatronics scary, FNAF World was just your typical RPG game. They’re both probably filled with microtransactions lol
  • Fury’s Rage, Freddy In Space, etc. are also in-universe games
  • POPGOES & CANDY’S

  • Both games have similar storylines to their respective canon but with minor differences here
  • Popgoes Fritz was bitten by Mangle, not Bonnie, but both of the Bonnie animatronics did terrify him, so his daughter’s name origin is still the same. She gets herself killed by a Mangle mask rather than a Bonnie one, and takes the form of a Shadowy Mangle (Shadow Bonnie doesn’t exist in this au period, and it wouldn’t make much sense for her to still look like Bonnie with the new lore)
  • Bonnie intended to die so she could experiment with undead “life.” She also attempts, and likely succeeds, in killing Fritz so he can join her
  • Everything regarding Simon is not canon to this au. At the very most, he’s Fritz’s average brother. Fritz managed to survive the bite on his own, somehow, most likely with huge help from the hospital
  • Popgoes and crew were Bonnie’s OCs brought to animatronic form, and the pizzeria was created to popularize them
  • Popgoes is still programmed to SAVE BONNIE (Fritz programmed them all to do so in a desperate attempt to bring her back but failed to remember to remove it when he was in a better state the next day. Everyone’s mechanics are the same)
  • In Candy’s, a copycat killer murdered twins and hid them within Candy and Cindy (i don't know HOW they knew where Afton hid the bodies, especially given that those Freddy and crew animatronics were never publicized)
  • I don’t know how much of Candy’s story is canon to the au, but right now, only the first game is with this above lore.
